Winter Is Coming!

Hello BFRC family,
Some of you may think, just because race season is over that we just close for the season.
Sorry.. but we are not becoming couch potatoes or doing a marathon tv binge and watching every episode of the Little House On the Prairie. And heck you don't want to loose your running base!! So during the winter months it's are great time to work on strength training and get some cross training in.

We have some great new meetups that have just been setup on our BFRC meetup calendar check this out!!!
Lifetime has offered to us an awesome opportunity to train for the Commitment day 5k.
For only $3.10 you can get an 8 week training program, that's 16 classes for only $3.10 cents!! Look for these meetups on our calendar to sign up. They meet Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings at the Lifetime Gym in Romeoville or a location that is closer to you.
We have already started our 10K training plan for the Polar Dash on Jan 10th.

If you like running outside, we will be meeting at different locations on Thursday and Saturday mornings for the 10K training. Look for the Meetups on our calendar. We are following the Jeff Galloway 10K training plan for beginners, but if your not a beginners you are still welcome to join us. Once the snow starts packing the trails, we will move our saturday runs to the Morton Arboretum. Some of us in the past used our memberships to get other in as guest, we will coordinate a location to meet so that you can get in without paying.
We still have a few spots open for our 3rd Annual Free Thanksgiving Day 5k/10k that will be on Thanksgiving morning.
Road ID has sponsored our event again so we will be raffling gift cards, pumpkin pies and other goodies!! We did not do shirts this year, but will be selling medals for 5.00 dollars. If you wish to purchase one email me at, but this is only if you want one, you are not obligated to get one. The event is free.
Also remember we will be collecting food donations for Loaves and Fishes. So bring a canned good or a tolietrie and let's help some families in need.
New this year we are having our very first ever Ugly Sweater 5K Run and New Years Eve Midnight run,  Go to the calendar to sign up before all the spots are filled.
Jingle Bell 5K

Photo was taken at the Jingle Bell 5k RUN/WALK we are doing this race again this year, sign up and join our Bolingbrook Fun Run Club team to raise funds for the Arthritis Foundation, last year we raised a good amount and I think were in the top ten for teams. And of course we will be getting breakfast after the run.
Final words...I started this club as a way of helping low income families get off the couch, thats why it's free to join. I never imagined it would be so rewarding to see so many achieve such amazing goals. Just wanted to say thank you to all the BFRC Super Hero's for being so supportive of runners who were training for the Cancer to 5k, Chicago, Fox Valley and Naperville Marathon. You went to the start and finish lines and offered words of inspirations and even laughter with your funny signs. You volunteered and supported them by doing training runs or just words of advice on our Facebook page. You are really appreciated and I thank you for all your support.

Memorial Day 5k 2014
Looking forward to running with you and hearing all about your 2015 running goals.
Now go out there and rock that turtle shell or rabbit tail!!
